SIGN IT - New Resource Terminology – fiskaly-support (EN)

This article explains the organizational structure and resource terminology introduced in SIGN IT 2026-02-03 and maintained in all subsequent versions, and how it compares to earlier versions.

From SIGN IT 2026-02-03 onwards, every reference in API paths, schemas, parameters, and responses reflects two key renames:

Asset ➜ Organization
Top-level structure	`Asset::TENANT` represents the PoS provider or a retailer that operates its own PoS system.	`Organization::ACCOUNT` the top-level structure in fiskaly. Represents your company and holds your users, organizations, products, and billing.
Intermediate layer	`Asset::GROUP` optional intermediate layer used to group multiple `Asset` resources of type UNIT.	`Organization::GROUP` required intermediate layer within an `ACCOUNT`, used to organize multiple `UNIT` into logical clusters (e.g., one `GROUP` per country). A single `GROUP` per `ACCOUNT` is sufficient if no further structuring is needed.
Merchant	`Asset::UNIT` represents a merchant (managed organization nested under either the `TENANT` or the `GROUP`, depending on the structure)	`Organization::UNIT` represents a merchant / taxpayer operating within the `GROUP` (and its associated `ACCOUNT`).
Entity ➜ Taxpayer and Location
Taxpayer data	`Entity::COMPANY / INDIVIDUAL`	`Taxpayer::COMPANY / INDIVIDUAL`
Taxpayer data	Represents a particular `UNIT` with the relevant taxpayer data.
Operating address	`Entity::LOCATION`	`Location::BRANCH`
Operating address	Represents the operating address of a legal entity's business premises or establishment.

Note: When a Taxpayer is created, a Location::HEAD_OFFICE is automatically generated with the same ID. If the business has only one operating location and it matches the taxpayer's legal address, you can link the System directly to the ID of the Taxpayer/HEAD_OFFICE without creating a separate BRANCH with identical details.
